Iranian international Azam Akhondi, who played for Club Immigration in 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta (WFF) has conveyed a message to her team-mates after reaching Tehran yesterday. She directed the message to her Club Immigration team-mates through her Instagram account.
She said on the message that, losing is part of the game, and said never to let the disappointment shade the future ahead. She further added to her statement advising to forget the defeat even if it was due to their own mistakes. Moreover, she urged to take it as a lesson for the future, to surge the hunger for the glory.
Club Immigration was knocked-out from the tournament in the Quarter Final clash against Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC). This is the first time Club Immigration failed to make it to the final of the tournament. Azam played the whole tournament bare handed without using Goal Keeper gloves, for which she responded saying that she finds it difficult to move her fingers with gloves. As such, she had never used it in her entire career.
Azam is a professional futsal player and plays domestically in the Iranian Futsal Super League. She currently plays for the local futsal club, Palayesh Nafte Abaden. She is yet to crown a domestic title with them. However she had magnificence wearing the national team jersey, when they lifted the first edition of AFC Women’s Futsal Championship held in Malaysia in 2015.
