Club Immigration will face Allied today at 17:00 hrs. local time, on the most important encounter to decide on their survival in Club Maldives Cup 2017. The match is paramount to both sides as both teams have chance to proceed further in the competition.
Two successive 1-0 wins to STO against Club Immigration and Allied has confirmed their place in the knock-out stages. On the other hand, two straight losses for Thilafushi Corporation Limited (TCL) against Club Immigration and Allied has confirmed their dismissal from the tournament, prior to their last match against STO today.
Club Immigration has no other option than winning the match against Allied today to advance further. However, due to the four goals difference Allied acquired against TCL, a draw will benefit them.
Club Immigrations Head Coach, Jinah Abdul Shukoor (Jinah) has refused to give any statement prior to today’s match. However, Assistant Coach Yoosuf Umar (Yoosuf) said that, he is confident about the team if they could apply what they were taught in the practice sessions, during the match.
“It is a do-or-die situation for us. But, if the players could apply what they were taught, I am confident about a win today”, Assistant Coach Yoosuf said.
Another interesting thing about today’s match is when Hassan Azwan Labeel (Azwan) takes on against his younger brother Hussain Qassan Labeel (Husy) who plays for Allied this year. When asked Azwan if he and Husy have spoken anything regarding the match, he replied saying that he only asked Husy if he has recovered from injury.
“I did not speak much about the match with him. I only asked if he is fit to play today against us. He said he is fit. It is good for Allied as he is capable of making difference in the match”, Azwan said.
The good news for Jinah’s side is that Ali Haisam (Chumpu) is available for this evening. He was unavailable for their last match against TCL, due to hamstring injury.
